Putting a Face to the Common Book Stories

JSC students got a chance to meet two of the young people whose stories were told in this year's Common Book, Moustafa Bayoumi's How Does It Feel to be a Problem? Being Young and Arab in America. Sami Aklkeh and Yasmin Dwedar visited five classes and had lunch with JSC students and staff on Tuesday, October 13, 2009. Students got to hear, first-hand about Sami and Yasmin's lives and experiences, putting a face on the stories How Does It Feel? discusses. Yasmin was accompanied by her sister Miriam, who is pictured here along with Sami and Yasmin, visiting the Basement Medicine office.

Bayoumi will be on campus next week (Tuesday, October 20, 2009) to visit classes and give a public talk in Dibden at 7 p.m.
